Safety testing When to Test in House and When to Send it Out
Now you have product in hand. But before you can sell you must have your product safety tested; this would be your Certificate of Analysis, COA.
If you are a grower, this is often done by a third-party testing facility. If you are a processor, there are some tests that you do as go. Your product must meet your state's regulations for pesticides, heavy metals, residual solvents, mycotoxins and potency levels.
Some facilities wish to test their product themselves during the growing season and processing times. This allows for real time monitoring of your crop so adjustments can be made as you go. This can help avoid getting to the end of the season and then having a third-party testing lab tell you that your end product is contaminated and worthless.
